Opportunities in the challenging Covid-19 era
Hardship is shared by everyone
It may sound hard to believe, but more than 90% of businesses, large and small, have been affected by the Covid-19 pandemic. It is not only aviation, tourism and services that have been hit; manufacturing has struggled just as much. Companies face problems with supply and sales at the same time, while still having to secure their employees’ livelihoods and income. Even real estate has declined, dragging down construction and the supply of materials and fittings.
An opportunity for Vietnamese brands
As the pandemic evolves unpredictably, importing goods has become difficult. Customers tend to spend less and are wary of imported products. Fortunately, Vietnamese goods offer both clear origins and competitive prices. So although Vietnamese manufacturers struggled at first, they later began to see clear signs of an advantage. Businesses should take this opportunity to raise their value in customers’ eyes and achieve long-term results.
Ensure real quality and avoid complacency
Because of COVID-19, importing goods is difficult. The supply of foreign goods into Vietnam has fallen. Consumers are turning to locally made goods. But there is no guarantee yet that domestic products will win consumers over.
According to Dr. Dao Xuan Khuong: “Every product must have three values: use value, service value and brand value.” The quality of Vietnamese goods keeps improving every day thanks to ongoing investment. The reputation of high-quality Vietnamese goods has been earned, not handed out. But in service and brand value, Vietnamese businesses have not yet reached maturity.
The COVID-19 pandemic has created heavy pressure. But it is also a chance for consumers to experience the quality of Vietnamese goods. What matters is sustaining it, together with good service and building a strong brand image and value. Business and manufacturing are a long game. Those who see opportunity in hardship and create lasting value are the ones who endure.
